Importance of Reproduction Success
Like most fish, the Mako Shark produces sexually (Male and Female). Figuring that is is hard for sharks to still or else they die, in order to reproduce, two sharks must swim parallel to each other or with their mouths open into the direction of the current, to supply oxygen. The two sharks clasp themselves onto each other while the male implants his clasper into her oviduct. Similar to humans, male sharks have what is called a clasper. It's not exactly like the human penis but what it does is it attaches the female to the male during copulation. It then transfers sperm to the egg, which is in the female, to have it fertilized in order for the female to lay her eggs. After the female shark lays her eggs, she either lets them raise themselves or she will raise them on her own until they are fully grown and capable of taking on the world.
