Mako Shark Digestion
All sharks, including the Mako shark tend to eat their food whole or by chewing and swallowing large pieces. They have very large and oval shaped stomachs and, create an acid that breaks down the starch they consume, similar to humans. This then causes the stomach to create a liquid that passes through the Pyloric valve (a muscle that only allows small pieces of food to pass). Food then reaches the intestines (which are in a spiral or folded form) and the nutrients are absorbed.
